JT’s Custom Apparel: A New Spot in Ashland for a Longtime Local Favorite
If you've gone to the Ashland County Fair, you already know them. They're the big, double booth with the double-collar sweatshirts everyone seems to fall in love with. That's JT's Custom Apparel. They're new to Ashland with a physical storefront, but not new at all. They've been in business for 25 years, and for almost 15 of those, Teri and her husband Jeff, better known as Jeffro, have been the owners. Their son Jeff helps too, making it a full family operation.
Teri handles the design magic. Kids, pets, favorite sayings, a photo from your travels...she can turn it into a shirt almost on the spot. Jeffro was running the heat press like a pro when I stopped in yesterday. A local business walked in recently with nothing but a logo on a piece of copy paper, and Terri recreated it into a clean, sharp design. They don't charge a set-up fee either, which is a huge help for families and small businesses.
You've probably seen them at more than just the fair. They've been to countless craft shows over the years. but now they're right here in town. They moved the business to Ashalnd because this is home, and it's a whole lot easier for folks to stop by than trying to track them down inside a mall.
I met them on October 30th. A friend reached out saying she was referring me to some friends of hers who needed a commercial space for their apparel shop. I called Teri and met her and Jeffro at a spot on the 31st that I thought might work. Within minutes I understood why my friend hooked us up. They're kind, love what they do, and truly believe that they're blessed and want to give back.
We drew up lease papers on the 31st and that night they were moving in. That was a Friday night. By Monday they were fully open for business. They don't mess around!
Teri also created a brand-new design that they hope becomes the official shirt design for the Ashland Christmas Parade. Of course I bought one. It was only the third one they made. They'll be open during the parade, so swing by and grab one.
You can find them at 615 Claremont, in the lower level behind Subway. They're open daily from 10am-8pm. If you bring in a photo of your dog or kids, don't be surprised if you walk out happy holding a new shirt.
